Letters To The Editor

I’ve known Jim Brey for a long time, and having had the honor to serve the 25th Assembly District myself for over a decade, I trust him to do what’s right for our community if we elect him to represent us in Madison. Jim shares my commitment to working families, job creation, economic development and the sanctity of life.

In his many years of service on our local city council and county board, Jim has dealt with some of our toughest budgets and, more recently, with some very challenging top-down management from Madison. The decisions he has made have not always been crowd-pleasers and I have not agreed with all of them. But the definition of a good leader is not someone who tries to please everyone all the time.

Jim is deliberative and will consider each decision and its unique details. For those who have sometimes disagreed with Jim, you should remember that often the alternative to someone like Jim is someone who votes a rigid political philosophy regardless of changing information and developments in the community.

Jim and his family have been up against one of the most negative and shameful campaigns this community has ever seen. He has responded to these tactics with a positive campaign, even while being vastly outspent by the out-of-state supporters of his opponent. Jim’s reaction to this assault has bolstered my support for him.

Many of our families, friends and neighbors are still struggling. Now more than ever, we need a strong representative who understands our values and will put people before politics. Jim is the one we can count on to stand up for us. I encourage you to join me in voting for Jim Brey on Nov. 6.
